Increase Your Total Merit With DanAvl

In the future, the world’s leading breeding system shall be known by one just name throughout the world:  DanAvl.

A threefold increase of exports makes new demands on branding as well as a better service of the customer.

The tests in the DanAvl system form the basis for the index calculation and are carried out at several levels. All young pigs are tested individually either in the nucleus herds or in the testing station. In the Bøggildgård testing station, all pens are equipped with feed computers so that individual feed uptake can be recorded. This forms the basis for the calculation of feed uptake as feed conversion per kg increases, which in turn forms the basis for the selection of approximately 20% of the best boars for the production of the next generation in the insemination stations, with the rest of the animals being slaughtered. Furthermore, the litter data from all nuclues and multipliers litters is recorded.

The daily increase, the lean meat percentage and the conformation are tested in the nucleus herds as well as the testing station at Bøgildgård. The test covers approximately 95,000 pigs per year. Approximately 5,000 boars are tested annually.

All litters, from 1985 to the present day, are taken into account in the weekly index calculation. There is therefore a high degree of certainty for the estimation of the fertility of the breeding population.
